Laayo riders spend their whole shift with one app open: the **Laayo rider app**. This guide follows a normal day in it. If you are thinking about riding with us, read [becoming a Laayo rider](https://blog.laayo.com.np/becoming-a-laayo-rider) first, and for pay, see [how riders earn at Laayo](https://blog.laayo.com.np/how-riders-earn-at-laayo).

## How do I start my shift?

1. **Check in.** Freelance riders take a quick selfie at the start of the day so we know the person on the bike is the person on the account. It takes a moment and protects riders and customers alike.
2. **Pick your gig.** Freelance riders book gigs, which are slots in a work area, ahead of time. Going online is tied to a gig, so the app knows where you plan to be. Salaried riders follow the shifts agreed with our team. See [gigs for riders](https://blog.laayo.com.np/gigs-for-riders).
3. **Go online.** One switch. From then on the app shares your location while you work, so dispatch can offer you nearby orders and customers can follow their delivery.

## How do I accept an order?

A new order arrives with a loud alarm and a clear card: the restaurant, the drop area, the earnings estimate for the trip and whether the customer pays in cash. Accept it and the app guides you to the restaurant. The alarm keeps going until you respond, because a missed order is the worst outcome for everyone. We wrote about that in [order alerts riders cannot miss](https://blog.laayo.com.np/order-alerts-riders-cannot-miss).

## What happens at the restaurant?

- The app shows the order items so you can check the bag before you leave.
- If the food is not ready, you can see the kitchen's progress and chat with the restaurant.
- Confirm pickup in the app when you have the order. Your arrival at the restaurant is also picked up automatically from your location, so a forgotten swipe does not hold things up.

## What happens at the customer's door?

The app shows the address pin, the landmark the customer gave and any delivery notes, with a call and chat button for the customer. When you reach the door, mark the order delivered. For cash orders, the app shows exactly how much to collect, including the full bill when a customer asks to see it.

## How does cash work?

Cash you collect is tracked in the app as **cash in hand**. You can see what you are holding at any time and deposit it with Laayo as agreed with our team. Keeping cash in hand within limits lets you keep taking cash orders.

## Where do I see my earnings?

The **My Earning** screen shows what each trip paid, tips customers left for you, and your totals over the day, week or month. What the order card estimated before you accepted is what you are credited, so there are no surprises later. Tips always belong to the rider.

## How do I get paid?

Earnings go to your wallet in the app, and payouts go to the bank account you added at sign up. The app shows every payout and any deduction, with a clear statement.

## What else is in the rider app?

- **Rain mode.** Riders can report that it is raining in their zone, which tells customers to expect a little longer and adds care to how orders are planned. See [riding through the monsoon](https://blog.laayo.com.np/riding-through-the-monsoon).
- **Fuel requests**, rolling out for riders who need fuel support on a shift.
- **Training center** with a practice order, so new riders learn the flow before a real customer is waiting.
- **Refer a friend.** Riders can invite friends to ride with Laayo with their own referral code.
- **Leave requests** for salaried riders.
- **Benefits** information our team sets up, such as insurance details.
- **Grievances.** Riders can raise a problem, or dispute a deduction, in a threaded conversation with our team.

## How do I get help during a delivery?

Use the chat on the order, call Laayo support from the app or raise a grievance for anything that needs a proper answer. For anything urgent on the road, call our team straight away.
