How to list your shop on Laayo, a guide for grocery and speciality stores
Laayo is not only for restaurants. Here is how grocery shops, meat and fish counters and speciality stores join, how their catalogue gets set up, and what customers see.
People in Birtamod and Damak use Laayo for more than dinner. They order vegetables and fruit, chicken and fish, household basics and speciality products from shops in their own town. If you run one of those shops, this guide explains how to get on Laayo.
Which shops can join Laayo?#
Laayo has a grocery section next to food. It suits:
- General grocery and kirana stores.
- Fresh counters, such as chicken, mutton and fish shops.
- Fruit and vegetable sellers.
- Speciality shops, such as sports nutrition or health stores.
If customers in town would like your products delivered, you are a good fit. Our team will tell you honestly if something you sell cannot be delivered well.
How do I sign up my shop?#
The sign-up is the same as for restaurants, with the shop type chosen at the start. You can:
- tap Partner with Laayo in the Laayo app and follow the guided steps, or
- ask a member of our field team, who can sign you up in person from their phone.
You share your shop details, location, opening hours, photos, documents and bank details for payouts. Someone from Laayo reviews every application before a shop goes live. The full walk-through is in joining Laayo as a partner.
How does my product list get on the app?#
This is where shops differ most from restaurants. A restaurant menu is short. A shop can have a long list of products, often kept in a billing system, a spreadsheet or a printed price board. Typing all of that by hand is the main reason shops put off joining, so we help:
- Send us what you already have. A price list, an export from your billing software or clear photos of your price board.
- We build the catalogue. Our team sets up categories and sub categories (for example Seafood, then Fresh fish and Live fish), units such as per kilo or per piece, prices and short, honest descriptions.
- Photos. We use your own product photos where you have them. Otherwise we use properly licensed pictures and mark them for you to replace when you can.
- You check before it goes live. Nothing is published until you are happy with names, prices and pictures.
Bulk set-ups are done carefully, with a way to undo them, so a mistake never leaves your shop half updated.
How do customers find my shop?#
Shops appear in the grocery section of the Laayo app, organised by category, and in search. Customers can filter and browse like they would in a supermarket aisle, add items from several categories to one cart and check out with cash on delivery or E-Payment. A redesigned, faster grocery experience is rolling out with the new native apps.
How do I keep prices and stock right?#
From the partner app you can edit prices, mark items out of stock and add new products whenever you like. Shops with prices that move often, like fresh meat, usually update a few items at the start of the day. Keeping stock accurate matters more in grocery than anywhere else: a customer who orders three things and receives two is less likely to come back.
Who delivers my orders?#
Laayo riders. When an order comes in, you pack it and a rider collects it. Fresh and frozen items should be packed so they travel well, and our team can advise on packaging.
